About

Founded in 2003, Whitewater High School is one of five high schools that are part of the Fayette County School System in Fayetteville, GA. Music has been an integral part of student’s lives at Whitewater High School from the moment they opened the doors with quality band, choral, and orchestral programs. Choirs at WHS have consistently received Superior Ratings in Performance and Sight-Singing at the Georgia Music Educators Large Group Performance Evaluation. They have been recognized as an exemplary choral program with invitations to perform locally as well as other cities in the United States and Internationally. Most recently, this choral program performed Faure Requiem in Rome and Florence, Italy under the direction of Dr. John Dixon; and music of Jake Runestad at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Dr. Anton Armstrong. Auditioned ensembles have also had the opportunity to perform with or visit many Colleges and Universities throughout the Southeast.

Students in the WHS Choral Program have been selected to participate in GMEA All State Chorus, GMEA District Honor Chorus, and the Governor's Honors Program. Ensembles

Choirs at Whitewater High School range from beginning to mastery level. This is a year-long course that explores choral music from a wide variety of cultures and time periods through study and performance. The core curriculum emphasizes the basics of vocal technique, sight-reading, music theory, and music history. WHS chorus students will have the opportunity to tour domestically and internationally at least once while they are in high school. Students who are in choir not only learn how to be exemplary musicians but will also learn some very important life skills such as teamwork, dependability, and perseverance that will help with their success in any of their future endeavors.
